Privacy
What we keep, what we do not keep, and for how long. In plain words.

Who processes your data
The publisher of the site, identified in the legal notice, is the data controller. See the legal notice.
What we collect
Only what it takes to run the site.
- When you create an account
- A username, an email address and a password. The password is never stored in the clear: only its hash is kept, and it cannot be turned back into the password.
- When you submit a code
- What you type in, the date, and your account as the author. A submitted code is meant to be public.
- When you vote
- Your vote, your account, and the optional comment you leave. The comment is not shown publicly: it is there for the review.
- When you browse
- The number of views and clicks per page, as totals. Those totals are attached to nobody.
What we do not collect
This list matters as much as the previous one.
- No IP address is kept in the database.
- No advertising tracker, no third party analytics, no social network button. The site loads no external script.
- No data is sold, rented or passed on for commercial purposes.
- No profiling, and no automated decisions about you.
The two fingerprints, and why they never meet
There are two needs, and they are handled separately, because mixing them would amount to creating a lasting identifier.
- Anti fraud fingerprint
- A one way hashed value, computed with a key that changes regularly. It is there to spot the same submission being repeated. It is erased after 30 days and is never reused anywhere else.
- Audience measurement
- Totals per day and per page, with no identifier, no profile, and no way back to a person. They are kept for 25 months.
The two are never brought together. That is what lets us measure the audience without having to ask for your consent, since nothing identifies you.
Cookies and local storage
- One session cookie, needed to keep you logged in and to protect the forms. It disappears when you log out.
- Your display preferences are kept by your browser, on your device. They are never sent to us, and clearing the site data erases them.
- No advertising cookie, no third party cookie.
For how long
- Account and submitted content: for as long as the account exists.
- After the account is deleted: codes already published stay online, detached from your username. Everything else is erased.
- Anti fraud fingerprint: 30 days.
- Audience measurement totals: 25 months.
Who has access
- The site team, to review codes and to run the service.
- The host, technically, to store the data. It is hosted in France.
- Nobody else.
Your rights
At any time you can ask:
- to see the data we hold about you,
- to have it corrected,
- to have it erased,
- to receive a usable copy of it,
- to object to it being processed.
Write to the contact address given in the legal notice. We answer within one month.
If our answer does not satisfy you, you can refer the matter to the CNIL, the French supervisory authority.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS only. Passwords are hashed. Administration access is restricted and logged.
No system is infallible. Should a data breach put you at risk, you will be told.
